For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
Team #766, The M-A Bears
About

The Robotics Team fills a void at Menlo-Atherton High School by offering a fun and challenging extracurricular activity for students of all grade levels who are interested in science and technology, but who may have no other opportunity to explore those interests.

Members have a unique opportunity to work closely with engineering students and technical professionals, and to learn directly from them what it is like to pursue advanced studies and careers in technical fields. Through their mentoring activities, the Team's coaches and professional technical mentors help address a need for more role models for students who aspire to careers in engineering and other technical fields - these role models are especially valuable for students from backgrounds and populations that have been traditionally under-represented in scientific and technical fields.

We hope that
  1. Robotics Team members will develop important interpersonal and teamwork skills that will help prepare them for success in all their future ventures.
  2. Robotics Team members will increase their technical knowledge and skills, and will learn how to apply their knowledge in a real-world way that is generally not possible in the classroom.
  3. Robotics will inspire some Robotics Team members to pursue advanced studies and careers in scientific, engineering, and other technical fields as a direct result of their involvement on the Team and their participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
